December 6, 2009 - Here is a frame of Al Brunell's flies. This is easily the hardest frame project that I have done. It was a good learning project.

September 21, 2009 - I got back today from fishing the North Umpqua with Dean Finnerty of 5 Rivers Guide Service (highly recommended) and Frank Moore (pictured below). It was an amazing trip that I thoroughly enjoyed and will always remember. It was the first time I have fished on that river and hopefully not the last. I hooked a nice steelhead in the morning and had him on for a few minutes until the hook popped out. Dean also taught me how to use a spey rod - and that was another first. We had lunch at Frank and Jeanne's house and then went out on the pond for some casting lessons. Frank is an amazing caster and I learned a lot. Later in the afternoon we did some more fishing and practiced more on casting. Thank you to Frank, Jeanne, and Dean for your hospitality!

September 1, 2009 - Some of my flies are now available on MyFlies.com. This is a pretty cool site that lets tyers, rod builders, guides, and artists sell some of what they do. There are over a dozen tyers and growing. Check it out! Below is a Glimmer bug that was developed by Al Brunell.

General Info

Realistic Woven Stoneflies are now available online. These unique flies make a great addition to any collection. If you are looking for a gift for that hard to shop fly fisherman, consider a realistic fly that would be great to display in the office or home.

Here is an example of a triple woven body realistic stonefly. The two materials that are used to braid the body are braided with 3 pieces of thread. Those are then braided with together with another three strands of thread braided on top of the stonefly. The produces a really nice looking realistic fly.

Instructions to the Realistic Woven Mayfly can be found here (Adobe Acrobat required).
